elcome to Hove Junior School. We are a large 6 form entry Junior School on two sites. Our Portland Road site is four form and the Holland Road site is two form entry. I was thrilled to be appointed as Executive Head Teacher of both Hove Junior School and West Hove Infant School in September 2022. They are fabulous schools - the greatest asset being our children who are highly motivated and enthusiastic and really involved in their learning. Our children have a strong sense of belonging and share common values of respect for and appreciation of each other through our ‘Working with Others’ approach to learning.
We offer an exciting whole school curriculum in which the children play an important role in helping us to choose topics and mould standards. We believe we have created a curriculum which is personalised and enhances the individuality of our school and gives it a unique feel. It is a school where we strive for children to continuously develop their curiosity and understanding of the world, to take risks with their learning and to ask probing questions and to think and act creatively.
We continue to focus on sustaining a high percentage of good or better teaching across the school, ensuring all children make expected or better progress and sustaining high quality leadership and management.
We continually strive to ensure good communication and are committed to working in partnership with all our families. We believe in genuine collaboration with all stakeholders and strongly feel we can all learn from each other.
My own career in teaching has spanned 23 years. I started my career as a class teacher at Patcham Junior School and have worked as a senior leader across Brighton and Hove for over ten years. I completed my NPQH in 2015 (National Qualification for Headship). I am proud to be a member of a highly talented staff team.
We had our last Ofsted inspection in February 2020 and Ofsted confirmed that we continue to be a good school!
