School Travel Plan

This year, we launched our new School Travel Plan. The aim of the School Travel Plan is to ensure that our children and their families have a safe journey to and from school.

We have been working with the Brighton and Hove Travel Team for the over the last year to create a School Travel Plan that encourages ‘park and stride’ as well as promoting safer travelling to school.

Our travel ambassadors have conducted questionnaires with our families to find out how the school community have travelled to school, and will be writing letters to the local community notifying them of all of the wonderful work the children have done.

We have organised a wide variety of activities for the children as part of the School Travel Plan. As part of this Lucy Dance from ‘Bike It Lucy’ has come into school regularly to work with the children and staff to promote safer cycling to school. We have had Learn to Ride sessions for the children, and a Dr Bike session from Bike It Ben.

Delphine Jacques and Stephen Kelly from the Brighton and Hove Travel Team have also been into school to work with the children on safer walking and scooting to school. Year 3 have created signs for the 5 minute walking zone which are now displayed on some street signs. They have looked at parking around the two sites and safe ways to travel to school.

The School Travel Plan is available on the school website, and identifies all of the key actions we have completed over the past year. We look forward in continuing to work with our families to promote safer parking and journeys to and from school.
