Kelly Simm visited Hove Junior School and completed successful sponsored circuits in the hall. Thank you to the children for their enthusiasm and efforts in this event and to their family and friends for their generous sponsorship. We are in the process of calculating the total money raised which we will announce soon and put towards new PE equipment. Kelly also led an inspiring assembly where she spoke about her career in gymnastics, answered questions and performed some of her incredible skills for us.
In our recent game against The Bilingual School on 23rd October the team demonstrated excellent passing, attacking and particularly scoring, allowing the game to end on a 11-3 victory. We are so proud of the way they have adapted to different positions and improved their skills from our previous game. Well done to all of the players: Saskia, Sofia, Marnie, Mila, Imogen, Nellie, Amelie, Niamh, Jude and Matilda.
In our first match of the season on 14th October against Aldrington Primary School, the team won 6-1. We are extremely proud of the way they have gelled as a team and look forward to the next fixtures in the league. Well done to all of the players: Jude, Rory, Ryder, Logan, Tom, George, Harrison, Oscar and Charlie.
Tag Rugby Festival
On an extremely rainy Friday afternoon on 18 October, a fantastic group of Hove Junior’s children participated in a Tag Rugby Festival at Cardinal Newman. They developed new skills while learning a variety of drills and games. We then also played two friendly matches against other schools. All children impressed us with their teamwork, love of the sport and also resilience to the extreme weather conditions. There were no complaints and they loved the games and getting covered in mud.
Well done to all of the players: Joey, Izzy, Paige, Ethan, Oscar, Scarlett, Ada, Joseph, Scarlett, Luca, Daniel, Summer.
After half term, we will be selecting children to participate in the Brighton and Hove Cross Country Event. Trials will take place in the afternoon of 8 November within school time.
Girls Football Tournament
On Tuesday 22nd of October Hove Juniors girls football team travelled to Brighton College to compete in a tournament against schools from all over Brighton and Hove.
Our two teams competed very well throughout the tournament where the quality of football on show was great to see, both teams played 3 group games before progressing through to the next stage of the tournament. Our B team fought hard in their matches and pulled off a great win against Cottesmore winning 1:0.
Our A team also played very well in their matches securing 1 win and 2 draws which took them through to the plate final which will be held at a later date. Go4Sport would like to thank all the parents who supported the girls at the tournament, it was a great afternoon and the girls played with skill and passion and learnt a lot.
We now look forward to the rest of our season and hope to continue to develop and look forward to our next games.
